Key Features
- Polymer Base: Orthagrip is based on natural rubber, offering superior flexibility and bonding strength, particularly for materials that require a durable, yet flexible adhesive solution.
- High Solid Content: With a solid content of 11-13%, this adhesive provides a robust and resilient bond that can withstand rigorous use.
- Viscosity: The adhesive features a Brookfield Viscosity LVF range of 0-110 Poises (7,500-12,000 mPas) at 22 +/- 4°C, making it suitable for precise application across various surfaces.
- Mild Yellow Colour: Orthagrip dries to a mild yellow finish, which blends well with many materials, ensuring a discreet bond that doesn’t detract from the appearance of your project.
- Quick Drying Time: Depending on the porosity and type of materials, Orthagrip dries in just 5 to 15 minutes. This rapid drying time is ideal for efficient workflows, whether you're in a professional setting or working on a DIY project.
- Extended Open Time: The adhesive allows a medium open time—from 5 minutes to achieve correct tack, with a total of up to 2 hours before the adhesive becomes unusable. This flexibility ensures ample time for adjustments and precise application.
- Heat Resistant: The high initial strength and heat resistance of Orthagrip make it particularly suitable for applications where temperature stability is required.
Sold in multiple tin sizes.
Applications
Orthagrip Natural Rubber Adhesive is versatile and suitable for a wide variety of applications, including:
- Footwear Manufacturing and Repair: Ideal for bonding leather, rubber, and other materials commonly used in footwear. It ensures a strong, flexible bond that stands up to the wear and tear of daily use.
- Orthotic Device Manufacturing: Provides a reliable bond for the assembly of orthotic devices, offering durability and comfort for the end user.
- General Repairs: Whether for professional or home use, Orthagrip is an excellent choice for various repair projects involving materials like leather, fabric, rubber, and plastics.
Instructions for Use
- Surface Preparation: Ensure all surfaces to be bonded are clean, dry, and free from dust, grease, and other contaminants. Lightly roughen smooth surfaces to enhance adhesion.
- Adhesive Application: Apply a thin, even layer of Orthagrip to both surfaces. Allow the adhesive to dry until tacky, typically 5-15 minutes, depending on the environment and material porosity.
- Bonding: Once tacky, carefully align and press the surfaces together. The bond forms instantly upon contact, so precise alignment is crucial. Apply even pressure across the bonded area for maximum adhesion.
- Curing: Allow the adhesive to cure fully, typically within 24 hours, before subjecting the bonded item to stress or use.
Safety Information
- Ventilation: Use in a well-ventilated area to avoid inhalation of fumes.
- Storage: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and sources of heat.
- Handling: Wear appropriate protective gear, such as gloves and safety glasses, when handling the adhesive.
