Orthotic Components & Additions provide the clinician with the option of making simple or complicated ‘base insoles’ with minimum effort. The differing densities and shapes of our components provide the necessary solution to a number of biomechanical problems.
Orthotic Components & Additions for Insole Adaptions
Orthotic components, such as metatarsal pads, valgus pads, heel lifts, wedges, plantar pads, and others, are used to address a variety of foot-related issues by providing support, realignment, or cushioning.
Component Types and Typical Use
Metatarsal Pads - Various solutions to provide protection for the metatarsal area, with placement customised to the patient. They can help with conditions like metatarsalgia, Morton’s neuroma, or sesamoiditis. Placing these pads on the insole helps redistribute weight and reduce discomfort.
Valgus Pads - Designed to be inserted into the shoe (except diabetic patients) or attached to insoles to support the arches of the foot. Used for patients with fallen arches and flat feet causing pain in the arch area.
Cobra Pads - Provides support, cushioning, with some designs providing medial support and correction.
Metatarsal Bars - uniquely designed to cushion and support the entire metatarsal area. Ideal for treating metatarsalgia. Can be adjusted with some basic tools.
Heel Raises or Heel Lifts - Die cut firm EVA heel pieces for raising the heel. Can be used alone positioned below and insole, or bonded and/or adjusted for true patient customisation. Heel lifts are employed to address leg length discrepancies or gait issues. Placing a heel lift in one shoe helps balance the height difference between legs, improving overall posture and reducing strain on the spine.
Heel Cushions - Cut cushioning heel peices used for comfort and pressure offloading. Use individually or bond to orthotic insoles and semi-bespoke devices to provide spot cushioning for boney spurs.
Podotech Posting Wedges -Wedges are used to adjust the angle of the foot within the shoe. They can correct issues related to supination (outward roll of the foot) or pronation (inward roll of the foot), enhancing gait and balance. This range of components form Algeos requires nothing more technical than a pair of scissors and some double sided tape. Various posting degrees are available, as are some posted insole parts.
Cushioning Components - Cushioning materials like Poron and foam padding are used to improve comfort, reduce shock absorption, and prevent or alleviate conditions like heel pain and ball-of-foot discomfort.
