Peapod Instant 3° or 5° posting - Children

Peapod Instant provides structured foot support combined with an integrated degree of posting. Rather than using a neutral orthotic and adding a separate wedge, the posting is incorporated directly into the device.

The 3° version provides a more moderate degree of posting, while the 5° version provides a greater degree of wedging where additional control has been clinically selected.

This makes Peapod Instant particularly useful where a clinician wants a consistent, ready-made paediatric orthotic with the required posting already incorporated.

The appropriate degree of posting should be selected according to the child's individual foot posture, symptoms, footwear and clinical assessment.

Clinical note: A greater posting angle does not automatically mean it is more suitable. The appropriate 3° or 5° option should be chosen according to the individual child's assessment and requirements.

1. Select the appropriate Peapod Instant size according to the child's footwear and foot size.
2. Select the 3° or 5° version according to clinical assessment and the required degree of posting.
3. Remove the existing removable shoe liner where appropriate to create sufficient space.
4. Place the Peapod Instant orthotic flat inside the shoe, ensuring that it is correctly seated at the heel.
5. Check that the orthotic does not move, rock or create excessive pressure within the footwear.
6. Fit the shoe and ensure there is sufficient room for the foot, particularly around the heel, arch and toes.
7. Ask the child to walk and check comfort, stability and footwear fit.
8. Review regularly as the child's feet grow or their clinical requirements change.

Fit and comfort check:

• The orthotic should sit securely and flat within the footwear.
• The shoe should not become excessively tight after fitting the orthotic.
• Check the child's feet regularly for rubbing, redness or pressure marks.
• Children may require a gradual introduction period when first using orthotic insoles.
• Review sizing regularly because children's feet can grow quickly.

• The 3° and 5° posting options should be selected according to the child's individual clinical and biomechanical requirements.
• Do not automatically select the higher 5° option simply to provide greater support.
• Children with persistent foot pain, significant deformity, neurological conditions or complex gait concerns should be assessed by an appropriate healthcare professional.
• Ensure the footwear has sufficient width, depth and internal space to accommodate the orthotic without compressing the foot.
• Check the child's feet regularly for redness, rubbing, blistering, pressure marks or skin irritation.
• Stop use and seek professional advice if the orthotic causes persistent pain, numbness, significant discomfort or skin damage.
• Orthotic requirements may change as the child grows. Regular review of size, fit and ongoing need is recommended.
