Fortuna High-Risk Static Foam Bariatric Pressure Relief Bed Mattress

The Fortuna mattress uses a solid CMHR foam construction to help spread the user’s body weight across the mattress surface. This helps reduce localised pressure on vulnerable areas such as the sacrum, heels, hips and shoulders, while providing the higher level of support required for bariatric users.

The wider 120cm surface supports more comfortable positioning and gives carers additional working space when assisting with repositioning, personal care or transfers. As a static foam mattress, Fortuna does not require a pump, electrical supply or powered alternating system, making it a quiet and low-maintenance option for bariatric pressure care.

• Follow local infection prevention, cleaning and decontamination procedures at all times.
• The PU cover can be wiped clean and laundered up to 80°C where appropriate.
• The cover is resistant to chlorine solutions up to 1000ppm.
• The foam core may be autoclaved up to 140°C when appropriate.
• Inspect the cover regularly for punctures, tears, fluid ingress, seam damage or zip failure.
• Do not use the mattress if the cover or foam core is damaged, contaminated or no longer provides a safe protective barrier.

It should be used alongside appropriate repositioning, skin inspection, nutrition and hydration support, continence care, heel offloading where required and escalation to a healthcare professional if skin deterioration is identified.

Fortuna is designed for use with compatible bariatric profiling beds. Before use, confirm that the mattress dimensions, maximum user weight, bed platform, side rails and moving and handling equipment are suitable for the individual patient and care environment.

When used with side rails, complete a full side rail risk assessment to check the safe height, gap dimensions and entrapment risk in line with local policy.
