Product Description

Low Density, Soft, Lightweight EVA Foam

Aortha A25 Low Density Super Soft EVA Foam Sheets are engineered for precision applications across orthotics, prosthetics, footwear and general O&P fabrication. Measuring 1000 x 1000mm, these sheets feature an exceptionally soft, lightweight closed-cell structure that offers outstanding comfort, flexibility and shock absorption.

The A25 material ensures consistent performance during thermoforming, grinding and finishing processes, providing excellent dimensional stability and ease of bonding with other substrates. Each batch undergoes independent testing and quality verification under Algeos’ manufacturing standards to maintain uniformity and long-term reliability.

Available in multiple thicknesses, the Aortha A25 range accommodates varied clinical and technical requirements - from soft top covers and lining layers to protective padding and cushioning systems. A selection of colour options supports coding and aesthetic differentiation, making these foams suitable for laboratory, educational and design environments.

Aortha A25 EVA Foam Sheets provide a reliable material solution wherever lightweight comfort, precision shaping and material integrity are critical.

Low Density EVA Foam

  • Low Density, Extremely Versatile: This high-quality EVA (Ethylene Vinyl Acetate) foam sheeting is used extensively in the O&P (Orthotics and Prosthetics), footcare and footwear industries.
  • Material for Insoles and Midsoles: EVA sheeting serves as a standalone material or can be combined with other materials to create insoles and midsoles in shoe manufacturing.
  • Customisable: Can be heat-molded to fit individual contours.
  • Proven Medical-Grade Quality: Used for orthotic linings, insole covers and prosthetic covers.
  • Consistent cell structure: Proven for predictable performance.
  • Thermoformable: Easily shaped by heat or mechanical means.
  • Independently tested: Tesed to ensure durability and quality compliance.

Benefits of Low Density Foams

  • Comfort and Support: Provides cushioning and support due to its softness.
  • Easy to Work With: Lightweight and easy to fabricate.
  • Washable: Closed-cell structure allows for easy cleaning.
  • Ideal for Therapeutic and Rheumatoid Shoes: Suitable for linings in specialised footwear.

Common Uses

  • Orthotic Linings: Used as a lining material for custom orthotics.
  • Insole Covers: Enhances comfort and cushioning in insoles.
  • Prosthetic Covers: Provides a soft and comfortable surface for prosthetic devices.
  • Crafts and hobbies: Low-density foam is a popular choice for DIY projects, cosplay outfits and model making.
  • Thermal insulation: Low-density foam is used as thermal insulation in buildings, especially in areas that require lightweight materials.
  • Sports equipment: Low-density EVA foam is used in sports equipment such as helmets, padding, and boots because of its impact-resistant and cushioning properties.

EVA Heating Guide

Mouldable at between 120°C - 140°C depending on the sheet density, with an oven time of 2 minutes per mm. The ideal temperature for thermo-moulding Aortha EVA depends on the material thickness and hardness.

The standard principles would be:

e.g. Shore A25-A35 15mm EVA material: 100-130ºC temperature during 30 to 90 seconds exposure.

It is important to indicate the aforementioned conditions should be adjusted according to the following patterns:

The thinner the material the lower the temperature or the exposure timing. The only effective way to determine heating times based on variable thickness and sheet size, is to test in stages based on the above guidelines.

The heat source is also important; a direct infrared radiation will be much more aggressive than heating a piece with a circulating air system - meaning the temperature should be adjusted accordingly.

In general, EVA should not be extruded hotter than 200°C since degradation may occur.

Degradation products include the elimination of acetic acid, which can account for a “vinegar” odour and corrosion of some materials.

Eco-friendly Foam Materials

Our trusted manufacturer has achieved both the Recycled Claim Standard (RCS) and Global Recycled Standard (GRS) certifications in 2024. These globally recognised certifications affirm their dedication to sustainable production, responsible sourcing, and reducing the environmental impact of plastics.

The RCS and GRS certifications enable companies to verify recycled content in their products (at least 20% recycled content with full traceability process) ensuring transparency for retailers and consumers, increased use of recycled materials and demonstrate leadership in ethical and eco-conscious manufacturing practices.

Additionally, these certifications ensure the manufacturer promotes social responsibility, ethical labour practices and workplace conditions.
