Product Description

Telescopic Round Inspection Mirror

This inspection mirror is a simple telescopic aid for underfoot visual inspection where direct viewing is difficult. It is particularly helpful for people who need to check the soles of the feet regularly, including those with diabetes, peripheral neuropathy, reduced flexibility, a history of ulceration, or any foot considered at increased risk.

Regular foot inspection is a core part of diabetic foot self-care. National and international guidance emphasizes early identification of skin breaks, callus, fissures, redness, blistering, swelling and other warning signs, because people with neuropathy or vascular compromise may not notice early tissue damage. A mirror can support daily inspection of the plantar surface when the underside of the foot cannot be seen easily.

The telescopic shaft extends the mirror into a comfortable viewing position, helping users avoid awkward bending. It can be used in self-care routines, by carers assisting with daily checks, or in podiatry, community and domiciliary settings where a quick visual check of underfoot skin condition is needed

Evidence base and clinical context

NICE guidance on diabetic foot problems recommends regular foot examination and risk stratification, including assessment for ulceration, callus, infection or inflammation, deformity and ischaemia. This supports the value of practical aids that help people and carers inspect the whole foot, including plantar areas that are difficult to see.

The 2023 International Working Group on the Diabetic Foot (IWGDF) prevention guidance continues to emphasise structured prevention, self-care education and early recognition of tissue damage in people at risk of diabetes-related foot ulceration.

NHS patient information leaflets commonly advise people with diabetes to check their feet every day and to use a mirror or ask another person for help when they cannot see the underside of the foot clearly.

Please note: This product supports visual inspection only and is not a diagnostic device. Any suspected ulceration, infection, swelling, discharge, new colour change, or hot/red foot should be assessed promptly by an appropriate healthcare professional.
