Poron Insoles Product Guide

Poron insoles are a cushioning insole option made using high-performance PORON microcellular urethane foam. They’re widely used in orthotic therapy, sports footwear and occupational settings because they’re designed to absorb impact, improve underfoot comfort and stay resilient over time.

What Are Poron Insoles?

Poron insoles are shock-absorbing insoles (or insole components) made from PORON® foam. Compared to many standard foams, PORON is known for maintaining its cushioning performance under repeated load, making it a popular choice for both clinical and everyday comfort needs.

Why Choose PORON?

1) Superior Shock Absorption

PORON helps reduce impact forces at heel strike and through gait, which can improve comfort and reduce foot fatigue—especially on hard surfaces.

2) Long-Lasting Resilience

Many conventional foams compress and flatten with use. PORON is designed to rebound consistently, helping it keep its cushioning feel for longer.

3) Pressure Redistribution

Its microcellular structure can help spread load across the plantar surface, supporting comfort in pressure-sensitive areas.

4) Breathable, Moisture-Resistant Performance

PORON’s structure supports airflow and is resistant to moisture-related breakdown, making it suitable for enclosed footwear where heat and perspiration are common.

Who Are Poron Insoles Suitable For?

  • People with plantar heel pain (including plantar fasciitis-related discomfort)
  • Those experiencing forefoot pressure or metatarsalgia-type symptoms
  • Individuals who stand or walk for long periods on hard floors
  • Athletes or active users wanting improved shock absorption
  • Anyone looking to upgrade everyday comfort inside shoes, trainers or work boots

Common Uses in Orthotic Therapy and Everyday Footwear

Application How Poron Helps
Heel comfort and impact reduction Helps reduce peak impact at heel strike, improving comfort during walking and standing.
Forefoot comfort Adds cushioning under the metatarsal heads to ease pressure-sensitive hotspots.
Orthotic top covers Adds a comfortable interface layer to custom or prefabricated orthoses.
Work boots and safety footwear Improves comfort for long shifts, especially on concrete or other hard surfaces.
Sports footwear Supports comfort and impact management for higher-load activity.

Types of Poron Insoles You’ll Commonly See

Poron ranges often include several formats, depending on the intended use and footwear type:

  • Full-length cushioning insoles for overall comfort and shock absorption
  • Heel cushions or heel inserts for targeted impact reduction
  • Forefoot pads for localised comfort where pressure builds up
  • Orthotic top covers to enhance comfort on custom devices
  • High-impact performance styles suited to sport or demanding work environments

Thickness options (where available) can help match the insole to shoe volume—slimmer for tighter footwear, thicker for trainers and boots.

Poron vs Standard Foam Insoles

Feature PORON Standard EVA/PU Foam
Shock absorption High Moderate
Resistance to flattening (compression set) Excellent Can flatten over time
Durability Long-lasting Often shorter lifespan
Pressure management consistency Consistent Variable
Use in clinical settings Common Sometimes

How to Choose the Right Poron Insole

  1. Start with the goal: Are you mainly after cushioning, pressure relief, or improving comfort on an orthotic?
  2. Check footwear volume: Slim profiles suit tighter shoes; thicker cushioning often suits trainers and boots.
  3. Identify the problem area: Heel discomfort and forefoot pressure usually benefit from different designs.
  4. Consider clinical needs: For at-risk feet (e.g., reduced sensation), professional guidance is recommended.

When to Replace Poron Insoles

Poron is designed to last, but replacement is typically recommended when:

  • There is visible compression, thinning, or permanent indentation
  • The cushioning feel has noticeably reduced
  • They have been used heavily for around 6–12 months (depending on activity and load)

For clinical use, regular inspection is a good habit—especially if you’re managing sensitive or high-pressure areas.

FAQs

Are Poron insoles suitable for plantar fasciitis?

They can help improve comfort by reducing heel impact. Many people use cushioning alongside appropriate arch support or orthotic therapy, depending on the cause of symptoms.

Do Poron insoles provide arch support?

PORON itself is primarily a cushioning material rather than a structural support. Some insole designs combine cushioning with contoured support features.

Can Poron be used in custom orthotics?

Yes. It is commonly used as a top cover or cushioning layer for custom orthoses.

Are Poron insoles suitable for diabetic foot care?

They may assist with cushioning and pressure distribution, but diabetic foot management should always follow professional guidance and regular skin checks.

Summary

Poron insoles are a high-performance cushioning solution designed to deliver reliable shock absorption, comfort and long-lasting resilience. Whether used as a complete insole, a targeted insert, or a top cover for orthotic devices, they provide a versatile option for reducing impact and improving underfoot comfort across everyday, occupational and sports use.
