Gait-Print

Your Biomechanical Footprint

Life comes at you fast; you never know what tomorrow will bring.

Your gaitprint is a biomechanical reference point (baseline) of the symmetries and asymmetries of your gait cycle. When stored in a database, doctors, therapists, trainers, etc. can use this data to ensure the effectiveness of both training and treatment protocols.

Protocol for testing:

  1. Place OptoGait on treadmill and start software
  2. Select speed for subject to walk
  3. Walk barefoot or with stockings for 30 seconds
  4. Record all parameters of the gait cycle (step length, contact time, swing, etc.) instantly with left-right differentials noted
  5. Store in database

Many different parameters of testing (walking on the treadmill versus higher speeds, inclines, etc.) can be applied, depending on the severity of injury or the needs of the client. If a training/conditioning program is employed, data can be used to ensure the athlete is becoming more efficient and agile. If an injury occurs (e.g., groin pull, ACL), data can help with RTP decisions. When data asymmetries are reduced, doctors, therapists, trainers, etc. know the program is effective. Treatment protocols may be changed to ensure effectiveness. Rehabilitation should restore the athlete or patient to his/her pre-injury gait symmetry before RTP is allowed. Detrimental accumulative effects should not be not allowed.

OptoGait is a precise, biomechanical, and affordable tool that creates objective data to help in the RTP equation. Gaitprint is for everyone – young and old, athlete and non-athlete, alike.
