Algeos steps up eco-responsibility with ISO:14001 accreditation

Leading medical manufacturer and distributor Algeos has set an industry precedent with the award for its commitment to sustainability and environmental management.

ISO:14001 is an internationally recognised standard for environmental management systems (EMS), designed to help organisations minimise their environmental footprint, comply with applicable laws, regulations, and other environmentally oriented requirements.

The process involved a rigorous evaluation, where Algeos demonstrated its efficient use of resources, reduction of waste, and mitigation of environmental impacts.

Max Sheridan, MD of Algeos, said: “Algeos recognises the critical importance of sustainable practices, not just within our operations but as a part of our responsibility towards the planet.

“This significant milestone underscores our commitment to ensuring that as a business we are doing what we can to benefit the sector, the environment, and the communities within which we operate.”

The company, which is known for the manufacture and sale of orthotics, medical materials, podiatry and physiotherapy supplies, and diabetes and pressure care equipment, has put in place a number of initiatives to further its proactive approach to environmental and social responsibility.

Last year, the company successfully reduced its landfill waste to zero percent, as well as developing sustainable product lines and packaging across its core brands.

Thomas Williams, Production & Process Improvement Manager at Algeos, said: “We are delighted by the accreditation, it is a testament to the hard work of our own Net Zero team and the entire cohort of colleagues who have really got behind the initiatives.

“At Algeos, we are consistently looking at ways we can improve our processes, ensuring we remain a trusted partner for our suppliers and customers alike.”
