Physiotherapists working in the NHS are being offered free CPD-accredited training by a global medical products company.

The education team at Algeos are able to provide courses covering areas such as acupuncture, biomechanics and Kinesiology taping.

They can also educate physios in sports taping and strapping, chairside insole adaption, ultrasound, mobilisation and rehabilitation and gait analysis.

Algeos’s Head of Education is Michelle Weddell, an advanced podiatrist, and her team includes a number of other clinical experts including experienced physiotherapists.

Algeos supplies products to medical professionals working in physiotherapy and rehabilitation, podiatry and orthotics and prosthetics.

In just over two years, the company’s physio and rehab division has become a one-stop provider of everything from capital equipment to consumables and won national framework agreements with NHS Supply Chain.

It has also successfully launched a number of its own physio brands including Physioworx and Bodytonix and its products are used by the Ministry of Defence.

This year, Algeos was the Gold Sponsor at the Physiotherapy UK Conference in Birmingham and it has committed to doing the same at the 2015 conference in Liverpool.

Hugh Sheridan, CEO of ALG International Holdings, which includes Algeos, said: “The free CPD-accredited training courses we provide to physiotherapists working in the NHS are an important part of our overall service.

“We are proud of our reputation not only as a provider of industry-leading medical products, but also as a leader in innovation, technology and education.

“Only by playing our role in education, can we achieve our ultimate goal of not only changing the way people move, but also the way they feel.”

ALG now distributes its products to more than 70 countries through its offices in the UK, Australia, United States and United Arab Emirates.
