First patient visits Pemba Island workshop in Zanzibar

Following on from our report in May 'From a world of suffering to one of hope, how Dr Charlotte Hawkins is transforming the lives of disabled children in Zanzibar.'

We are extremely proud to announce that the new O&P unit at Chake Chake Hospital on Pemba Island is open.

Pictured below is the first patient who is being cast for a new prosthetic limb. He has been wheelchair bound all of his life.The much needed clinic, which will be treating both adults and children, was made possible by the support of our customers generosity.

A number of Algeos partners worked together to source the products and equipment for the clinic including Blatchford, Trulife, Buchanans, De Novo, QMC, Superfeet and Birmingham Children's Hospital.

Algeos, has been a supporter of the Infant Club Foot Appeal for over four years. In that time, with the help of leading industry partners, much needed O&P donations have helped to equip a clinic in Zanzibar, together with the new clinic in Pemba Island to transform the lives of thousands of disabled children with clubfoot and other feet deformities.
