Algeos agree exclusive partnership to launch pioneering shockwave therapy
Algeos agrees exclusive partnership to launch pioneering Therapy Concept that helps treat musculoskeletal pain.
Leading medical distributor Algeos has signed an exclusive distributor agreement for UK & Ireland with EMS (Electro Medical Systems), a Swiss based manufacturer of medical devices.
Algeos will supply the companyâs pioneering new Guided DolorClast Therapy (GDT) to the UK and Irish market.
GDT is a new treatment concept which combines radial and focused shock waves and high-power laser therapies as a holistic solution to treat musculoskeletal pain. Up to 90% of patients suffering from a musculoskeletal disorder can be quickly and safely treated with the new concept.
The technology, which will be available to physiotherapists, podiatrists, chiropractors and osteopaths, is already being successfully used by Premiership rugby and football clubs.
Algeos, a global medical distributor with its head office in Liverpool, has been working with EMS for over two years.
Max Sheridan, Commercial Director of Algeos, said: âWeâre delighted to sign this exclusive distributor agreement with EMS.
âWe have been distributing for EMS for the past two years and sales have grown to a point where both EMS and Algeos were keen to develop our partnership.
âGuided DolorClast Therapy is their new cutting-edge technology which clinical research has shown can deliver better results than traditional treatments such as steroid injections. We believe GDT will be a Game Changer for the rehabilitation market in the UK & Ireland and will allow us to further develop the growing community of EMS practitioners.
âWe have sold their devices into private practises, private hospitals, the NHS and elite sports including Premier League football and rugby clubs.â
Guided DolorClast Therapy can be used to treat a number of conditions including tennis elbow, back pain, anterior knee pain, knee osteoarthritis and plantar fasciopathy.
Andrew Jones, Global Head Medical Division of EMS, said: âThis is an important strategic partnership for us. Algeos are very much aligned to how we see our future distribution partnerships and have the technical strength to sell the added value of our products through the GDT concept.
âThe UK and Ireland is at the forefront of rolling out this pioneering technology. Weâre expecting demand to be accelerated by the impact of the pandemic on peopleâs physical wellbeing as a result of increased homeworking and poor working environments.â
