Corporate Social Responsibility

Algeos has a great culture promoted by a real family spirit, continuous improvement and high performance. Our Corporate Social Responsibility is an important part of our business and we have developed a comprehensive set of initiatives to facilitate our approach.

We know that our people are our biggest asset and we are proud of how deeply committed they are to corporate responsibility through everything from community engagement to environmental sustainability.

You can read more about what Team Algeos has been up to below.

Fund Raising

At Algeos we are passionate about supporting charity.

Our official charity is North West children’s hospice Claire House, which opened in 1998 in memory of Claire Cain. (HYPERLINK www.clairehouse.org.uk)

When it opened, Claire House was only looking after ten families. Today, they support over four hundred.

For many years we have also supported Zanzibar’s Infant Club Foot Appeal (www.infantclubfootappeal.org) which tackles an increasing problem of clubfoot on the island of Zanzibar in Africa. We send life changing orthotics and prosthetics materials to their clinic which helps to improve the lives of thousands of children.

We regularly hold coffee mornings, fancy dress days, cake sales and some of our team have even abseiled down Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral – one of the world’s tallest non-spired church buildings at 331 feet – to raise money for our charities. And Algeos always doubles the amount our people raise.

Sustainability

We embrace sustainable solutions and innovations so that we can play our role in helping our planet.

We have incorporated greener, more efficient production standards to help to reduce waste, have engaged with greener energy providers and use a local recycling company which filters out waste that can be re-used. We have also embraced working from home.

And we regularly challenge our people to come up with innovative new product ideas using our material waste.

Local/Economic Region

We support and develop our people in their careers.

We have a strong heritage of recruiting and training apprentices from the local region and many have worked their way up through the company. You can read some of the stories of our amazing apprentices here. (Link to case studies)

We also work with external approved training providers to create programmes which support our ongoing people development strategy.

And we have put a structured development path in place for all managers at Algeos. All of our managers attend ILM approved leadership and management training courses.

Ethics

Algeos recognises the benefits of collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders to address the risk of modern slavery in our business operation and supply chain. Our management teams have been fully trained in how to identify and monitor ethical working practices.

All of our new employees are subject to pre-employment checks to confirm their identity and right to work in the UK.
