Royal College of Podiatry

Last week, Team Algeos proudly participated in five major events that spanned podiatry, education, and healthcare advocacy.

These occasions offered an incredible opportunity to showcase our innovative products and close partnerships, connect with healthcare professionals, and inspire the next generation of podiatrists and therapists.

From careers fairs to international conferences, here’s a detailed recap of our whirlwind week of activity.

14th, 18th, and 22nd November: AHP Schools Career Event

Kicking off the week, Algeos joined forces with the Sirona Podiatry team to inspire future healthcare professionals at the AHP Schools Career Event. Held across Bristol, North Somerset, and South Gloucester, this event highlighted the exciting possibilities within Allied Health Professions (AHP), with podiatry taking centre stage.

Algeos supported team members, including Deborah Miller, Emily Baldwin, and Rebecca Edgar, in showcasing the vital role podiatrists play in improving patient care. The team delivered presentations and engaged students, sparking interest in podiatry as a rewarding career.

Through our involvement, we continue to champion the future of podiatric healthcare by connecting with students eager to make an impact in the field.

18th November: University Educators Day

In collaboration with BlueDop, Algeos took part in University Educators Day to introduce the next generation of podiatric leaders to the latest in vascular assessment technology.

Algeos’ RBM Eleanor and Ross from BlueDop represented Algeos at this impactful event, sharing insights into how the BlueDop Cuffless Vascular Assessment System is revolutionising vascular care. By fostering relationships with university educators, we aim to equip students with the tools and knowledge they need to excel in podiatry.

21st November: Stop the Pressure Day

Pressure ulcer prevention is a critical focus in modern healthcare, and Algeos marked Stop the Pressure Day by showcasing our orthotic solutions to tackle this challenge.

Ross demonstrated BlueDop’s advanced capabilities, providing healthcare professionals with practical ways to enhance vascular assessments. These efforts align with our mission to support clinicians in improving outcomes for patients at risk of pressure ulcers.

28th and 29th November: Podiatry 2024 – Royal College of Podiatry Annual Conference

Held in Harrogate, Podiatry 2024 was a standout event for Algeos. With two dedicated stands, we showcased the breadth of our podiatric solutions:

Product launches

We proudly launched two groundbreaking products:

DARCO Movilo Trainers: Therapeutic footwear designed for optimal comfort and pressure distribution, supporting biomechanically correct gait.

BlueDop Cuffless Vascular Assessment System: An innovative tool providing actionable vascular insights, including ABIm and Doppler waveforms.

Workshop

On Thursday morning, the Algeos Academy Workshop, led by Advanced MSK Podiatrist Louise Fisher, drew a packed room of over 80 eager delegates. The session, titled “Principles, Prescriptions, and Practices of Orthotic Therapy,” provided an in-depth exploration of the role orthotics play in managing common musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions affecting the forefoot, midfoot, and hindfoot.

Louise expertly guided attendees through:

  • The core principles of orthotic therapy and how they can address specific MSK conditions.
  • A breakdown of orthotic prescriptions tailored to meet varying patient needs.
  • Practical techniques for applying orthotic solutions in clinical settings.

What set this workshop apart was its hands-on approach. Delegates were encouraged to actively engage with a variety of orthotic materials, experiencing firsthand how different options can optimise patient care. Attendees also received comprehensive workshop packs, designed to extend their learning beyond the session.
