PORON Permafresh offers anti-microbial protection. Unlike anti-odor insoles, PORON Permafresh urethane doesn’t just mask shoe odors. It stops the growth of odor-causing bacteria and fungus, including the fungus that causes athlete’s foot. It also resists the growth of mold and mildew.

Tests show that Permafresh urethane resists the growth of fungus or bacteria. Tests have been conducted by independent laboratories to measure the anti-bacterial protection of PORON Permafresh materials.

Three grades of PORON Permafresh materials, one standard PORON urethane material, and several environmental controls were tested with fungus and various bacteria, including: Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and Trichophyton mentagrophytes (athlete’s foot fungus). After inoculation with the fungus or bacteria, the samples were incubated at various temperatures for different periods of time.

Standard PORON urethane materials were found to resist fungal growth. The environmental controls showed medium to heavy microbial growth. The PORON Permafresh materials demonstrated anti-microbial activity versus S.aureus, K.pneumoniae and T.mentagrophytes.

PORON Permafresh materials did not support bacterial growth. The environmental control samples exhibited medium to heavy growth of each bacteria and fungus tested.
