INTERPOD DIABETIC

Functionality + Cradling = The ultimate diabetic foot orthotic

There are numerous diabetic orthotics on the market that provide a ‘cradling’ effect for the foot, but very few that use biomechanical principles to off-load the forefoot, as does the Interpod Diabetic.

Research has proved that by controlling the rear foot, you can relieve pressure on the forefoot and improve biomechanical function. A moderate 6° arch height and profile design of the Interpod Diabetic aids both control and comfort, and therefore patient compliance, but still provides adequate off-loading.

In addition to this, the Interpod Diabetic also incorporates a PORON 96 top cover. PORON 96 is a slow memory, medical grade cushioning polyurethane foam memory that cradles the foot and allows enhanced redistribution of body weight over the foot’s plantar surface.

Function and control:

  • Inverted rear foot improves biomechanical function and enhances the windlass effect.

  • 6° Moderate arch height provides adequate functionality for the majority patients.

  • Interpod arch profile ensures superior patient comfort and therefore patient compliance.

  • The plantar fascial groove helps to decrease arch irritation and facilitate the windlass mechanism. This acts to stabilise the foot during propulsion, hence a reduce mean peak pressures across the forefoot.

  • Biomechanical design principles and pressure dissipating material incorporation ensure reduction in the forefoot pressure time integral.

Foot cradling and pressure dispersion:

  • Open cell urethanes such as PORON have been scientifically proven to reduce vertical pressures by up to 18%.

  • PORON Medical sets a new level of advanced underfoot comfort technology. The slow memory quality of the material cradles the foot and allows enhanced redistribution of body weight over the foot’s plantar surface.

  • Medical grade PORON is one few materials specifically designed for use in podiatric and orthopaedic appliances, where body contact may occur.

  • PORON Medical is fungal resistant, PVC, Latex and Solvent free, as well as biocompatible.
